One of the UK’s largest golf developments.
Golf Kingdom in Romford, Essex, opened in June 2017 and represents a new way of attracting golfers and families to an environment that is inclusive, affordable and, above all, fun. It is the UK’s largest Adventure Golf facility – an outdoor activity centre with golf at its core.
Originally the facility in Romford, Essex was just a driving range. Additional land neighbouring the site was purchased and an 18-hole golf course was added (having been funded through soil imports), designed by Weller Designs.
The scheme uses recycled soils brought out from central London for the construction of the features. Royalties from the importation are reinvested in the scheme to create a golf facility of the highest quality.
The development includes:
– A full-length nine-hole golf course with multiple tees
– A par 3 golf course (Masters Course)
– A stand-alone nine-hole footgolf course (shortly to be extended to 18 due to demand)
– An 18 hole Adventure Golf course
– An extensively remodelled range outfield
– A state of the art artificial short game area
The success of the facility has led to the owners considering an additional nine holes to the Adventure Golf facility.
Weller Designs Ltd was responsible for the design and obtaining planning permission (including preparation of an Environmental Impact Assessment) as well as all the planning consultancy, detailed designs, EIA planning submissions and construction monitoring.
The 18-hole adventure golf course includes a 60-metre lagoon, an 8-metre waterfall and of course, Moby Dick. The course can be enjoyed by players of all ages and abilities, including those with mobility difficulties. It makes a fun family day out.
