Taymouth Castle

As part of a multi-million-pound investment to convert the historic castle into a luxury hotel, Weller Designs Ltd was commissioned to extend and remodel the existing golf course to achieve the high standards expected of a luxury hotel. The project is now complete and an opening date is to be announced.
Although set in a stunning landscape at the head of Loch Tay, the existing course was both modest in design interest and length.

We were pleased to work with European Tournament Pro, Stephen Gallacher, who has ranked as high as 31 in the world, on the project. Taking the grandeur of Gleneagles Golf Course as our inspiration, we set about creating a course that is defined by striking green complexes and rugged deep bunkering that reflect the environment in which the course is located.

A number of streams and ponds were created to give strategic interest and also to manage the course drainage. The course contractor was European Golf Services, they completed the work on schedule and we are pleased with the result; the course is stunning.
